UK retail sales rose 4.2% year-on-year in March
FXStreet (Mumbai) - As per the data released by the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS), the retail sales in March rose 4.2% year-on-year, missing the estimate of 5.4%. The previous month’s figure stands unrevised at 5.7%.
The largest contribution to the year-on-year fall once again came from petrol stations which fell by 12.8% and is the 19th consecutive month of year-on-year falling prices. On the month, the retail sales decreased by 0.5% compared with February 2015. The largest decrease was reported by petrol stations which fell by 6.2%. Core retail sales (ex-fuel) rose to 5.00% year-on-year from 4.8% in February.
